AHHH!!! If you didn’t already see, I’m pregnant!!! Ever since I found out (at 4 weeks) I have been in complete shock. Not because we weren’t ready or trying but because it happened so fast! I am 14 weeks and 3 days, due November 9th! I recently asked you girls what questions you had for me to give you the DL on my first trimester. I rounded up the most frequently asked questions to answer for you.

+Do we know the gender? Yes! A girl! Ricky and I found out last week. We went to an early prediction ultrasound at 13 weeks 1 day and we found out. The ultrasound tech seemed pretty confident on the gender but we still can’t help but have our doubts if she could possibly be wrong… either way, we’re so happy! We had a gender reveal this weekend and it was amazing! Everyone except my 6 year old sister wore blue and totally thought it was a boy… they were wrong! I am already eager for my 20 week ultrasound to see if she got the gender right 😉 I already bought some baby clothes so lets hope so!

+Did I have morning sickness? Yes but nothing unbearable. I started feeling nauseous around week 5. I only actually threw up maybe twice a week & I was still easily able to go to work and function normally. Around week 10ish I felt really good for about 2 weeks with no nausea at all. Then around week 13 it came back, worse than before! A few things that I felt really helped when feeling nauseous were Ginger Ale, Jolly Ranchers, saltines & toast. I tried to keep eating small, bland meals every hour or 2 hoping it wouldn’t get too bad. I’ve been feeling better but I still get nauseous some days. I’m hoping it goes away completely now that I’m in the 2nd trimester.
+How long did it take us to conceive? This part is crazy to me! In May Ricky and I will have our 2nd wedding anniversary, together for 7 years. We always talked about wanting kids but never felt “ready” & were always really careful. Last year we had decided, ok lets start trying in 2020. In January we didn’t track my ovulation or anything but I took about 20 pregnancy tests haha. I ordered these cheap ones on amazon & figured I needed to use them up. I never felt pregnant and got use to seeing a negative. February came around and I looked up my app that I have always had and checked to see which days were my ovulation days. It happened to be on Valentines Day… 2 weeks later I decided to take a test, assuming I’d see negative like usual and it was positive! I couldn’t believe it. We literally both just kept saying “wait, it’s not that easy is it?”, “that can’t be right”… I ended up taking 7 tests before I started to believe it!
+Symptoms that I’ve had? I can honestly say that I didn’t have many symptoms that were unbearable. I had mild cramping at the very beginning followed by extreme fatigue (which lasted my entire first trimester). I’ve finally got some energy back this past week. Morning sickness is actually worse in the evening, but like I said earlier, nothing horrible. Food aversions were also a major symptom. Other than that I have felt really good!
+Am I reading any parenting/baby books? I ordered What To Expect When You’re Expecting from amazon right when I found out but I haven’t read it yet. If anyone has any recommendations of books that are worth the read, let me know 🙂
+Food cravings or aversions? As far as aversions go… basically anything healthy was out of the question. Meat, especially chicken was the WORST along with broccoli & Brussel sprouts… & it didn’t help that that’s what Ricky eats basically every night. I couldn’t even be in the same area when he was cooking those things… it made me so nauseous. Coffee was also something that I couldn’t stand the smell of. I haven’t had any crazy cravings besides Chipotle & Chic Filet but I craved those before pregnancy soooo what’s new 😉

Congratulations! So exciting I’m having a girl too and due October 14th so only a few weeks ahead of you. I feel like everyone is having girls right now. I was lucky to have zero morning sickness-but the fatigue is real. 2nd trimester is so much better. Although it’s also been helpful being quarantined and working from home getting to sleep in and live in sweats. I can’t wait to see your nursery design and all her cute outfits! So fun
Thanks girl! I know quite a few people that are pregnant right now and so many of them are having girls! You’re due just a few weeks before me! Little fall babies 🙂
